Plan your target grade

Use your current pre-final average in Quick mode. In Detailed mode, enter exams, quizzes, projects and other components with their individual weights.

Your current average across all work excluding the final exam.
Choose round up if your school accepts only whole-number exam scores.

How do I calculate what I need on my final?

Quick mode uses your current average excluding the final, the final exam weight and your target course grade.

required final = (target grade βˆ’ current grade Γ— (1 βˆ’ final weight)) Γ· final weight

For example, with a current grade of 68, a 40% final and a target of 70, you need about 73 on the final.

When should I use detailed mode?

Use detailed mode when exams, projects, quizzes or assignments have different weights. The calculator verifies that total weight is 100% and solves the remaining final requirement.

Frequently asked questions

How is the required final grade calculated?

The calculator uses your current weighted contribution and the final exam weight to solve the score needed to reach your target course grade.

Do component and final weights have to total 100%?

Yes. In detailed mode, all entered component weights plus the final exam weight must total 100%.

What if the required final score is above 100?

The target grade is mathematically unreachable on a 0–100 final scale with the current grades and weights.

Does this include grading curves or minimum-final rules?

No. Check any course-specific minimum-final, relative grading, curve and letter-grade rules separately.
