Treats and extras
Keep treats within a limited energy allowance: this calculator can reserve 0–10%. Main meals should be complete and balanced for the life stage. Monitor body condition and weight over time.
Estimate daily calories and food grams for healthy dogs and cats using energy factors and food kcal. A starting point, not a veterinary feeding prescription.
For rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and birds, we do not apply dog/cat calorie formulas. Enter a measured daily amount in grams from a suitable product label or an exotic-animal veterinarian; this tool only splits the amount.
This tool only splits a daily amount already prescribed or measured on the label. Birds and small mammals have different feeding patterns; it does not replace unlimited hay/water or special liquid diets. Do not apply daily-gram plans to aquarium fish or intermittently fed reptiles.
This is not a feeding recommendation; it only divides the amount you entered. The number of portions is not a veterinary feeding-frequency recommendation.
Rabbits and guinea pigs require appropriate hay; birds need a species-appropriate balanced diet; small mammals benefit from weight and selective-feeding checks. Guinea pigs require dietary vitamin C. Contact an exotic-animal veterinarian about marked changes in appetite, droppings, weight or behavior.

Grapes/raisins and xylitol are hazardous to dogs; chocolate, onions/garlic and high-caffeine foods can be dangerous for cats and dogs. Seek veterinary guidance immediately after suspected poisoning.
Unexpected weight loss, frequent vomiting, increased thirst, poor appetite or reduced activity are reasons to seek veterinary assessment—not to increase an energy multiplier without evaluation.
A cup of kibble does not weigh the same across brands or pellet sizes. Weigh food in grams and use the cup/spoon converter only with a measured sample of your actual food.

This is an initial estimate for healthy dogs and cats only. Do not use for illness, pregnancy, lactation, prescription diets, therapeutic weight loss or severe underweight. Ensure the food is complete and appropriate for the life stage. Monitor weight and body condition with your veterinarian.
