Calculate your running goal

Choose what you want to calculate. Pace requires distance + time; finish time requires distance + pace; distance requires time + pace.

Running time

How is running pace calculated?

Pace is total running time divided by distance. For example, running 10 kilometers in 50 minutes equals a pace of 5:00 min/km.

pace = total time ÷ distance
finish time = pace × distance
distance = total time ÷ pace

The exact conversion 1 mile = 1.609344 km is used, so min/km, min/mile, km/h and mph results represent the same physical speed.

What is the split table for?

The split table shows the cumulative time you would see at each kilometer or mile at a constant pace. It is a quick reference for planning 5K, 10K, half-marathon and marathon goals.

Frequently asked questions

How is running pace calculated?

Total running time is divided by distance. The result is shown as minutes and seconds per kilometer or mile.

What pace is a 30-minute 5K?

A 30-minute 5K equals a constant pace of 6:00 min/km.

How long is a marathon in kilometers?

The standard marathon distance is 42.195 kilometers; a half marathon is 21.0975 kilometers.

Is the split table a race prediction?

No. It is an arithmetic plan showing cumulative times at a constant pace; course, weather, fatigue and training condition can affect real performance.
