What does this calculator do?

The Days Between Dates Calculator shows the interval between a start and end date. In addition to total days, it presents weeks, approximate months and years, and an estimated weekday count.

It is useful for delivery planning, due-date tracking, leave periods, project timing, and measuring elapsed time between two events down to hours, minutes and seconds.

How is the difference between two dates calculated?

The calculator subtracts the start date/time from the end date/time. If times are entered, the result is precise to the second. It then expresses the interval as weeks, approximate months and years, weekdays, and total time units.

Duration = End date/time βˆ’ Start date/time
Weekdays = Approximate days excluding Saturdays and Sundays

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I calculate without entering times?

Yes. Entering only the two dates is enough for the basic interval. If the time fields are blank, both dates are treated as 00:00:00.

Is the weekday count an official business-day count?

No. The calculator excludes Saturdays and Sundays to provide an approximate weekday count. Public holidays are not removed.

Can the start and end date be the same?

Yes. The interval can be zero days. If times are entered, the calculator can still show an hours, minutes and seconds difference within the same date.

What happens if the end date is before the start date?

The calculator shows a validation error. The end date/time must be the same as or later than the start date/time.
