Fuel Cost Calculator

For a one-way or round trip, calculate total fuel use, fuel cost, optional trip costs, cost per kilometer and per-person share in one clear view.

Fuel Cost Form

Enter distance, average fuel consumption and fuel price to calculate fuel required, fuel cost, cost per kilometer and per-person share. Leave the consumption adjustment blank if your L/100 km input already reflects expected real-world use.

Calculation assumptions

The calculator does not apply fixed city, air-conditioning or load multipliers. Those effects vary by vehicle, speed, weather and driving style, so entering your own realistic L/100 km estimate is more transparent.

Core trip details
km
Enter the one-way distance. Examples: 12.5 km or 1,234 km.
Choose round trip when the return journey should be included.
L/100 km
Enter your observed or planned fuel consumption.
$
Enter the fuel price per liter. English-style decimals such as 1.75 are supported.
Changes display formatting only; no FX conversion is performed.
Planning adjustments
%
Optional. Increase or decrease the entered consumption by a percentage. Leave blank when the input already reflects your expected real-world consumption.
%
Optional. Add a percentage for detours, local driving or other extra distance.
$
Optional. Add tolls, parking or other trip costs in the selected currency.
people
Optional. Leave blank to use 1 person; whole numbers only.
Preset examples
Fuel prices in presets are examples only and should not be treated as current market prices. Presets do not overwrite your saved manual inputs.

How is trip fuel cost calculated?

First, total trip distance is calculated. Round trip doubles the one-way distance and any extra-route percentage is added. Total distance is then multiplied by the effective L/100 km consumption and divided by 100 to estimate liters of fuel.

Fuel liters are multiplied by the entered price per liter. Optional toll, parking or other trip costs are then added. If multiple people share the cost, the total is divided by that number. The Β±10% table is a sensitivity check, not a fuel-price forecast.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is fuel cost calculated?

Total distance is multiplied by the effective fuel consumption in L/100 km and divided by 100 to estimate liters used. Liters are then multiplied by the fuel price.

How is a round trip calculated?

When round trip is selected, the one-way distance is doubled. Any extra-route percentage is then applied to that combined distance.

What does the consumption adjustment do?

It increases or decreases the entered L/100 km value by your chosen percentage. Leave it blank or at zero when the entered consumption already reflects your expected real-world usage.

How is per-person trip cost calculated?

Fuel cost and optional extra trip costs are added together, then divided by the number of people sharing the cost.

Does changing currency convert fuel prices?

No. Currency selection changes the display unit and formatting only; it does not perform exchange-rate conversion.
